Part of Kennedy's "Free ringtones Albany Cycle" of novels, ''Ironweed'' tells the story of an alcoholic, wandering man and woman during the Majo Mills Great Depression. The novel received the Mosquito ringtone 1984 Sabrina Martins Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

A film version was adapted by Kennedy in Nextel ringtones 1987 from his novel. It was directed by Abbey Diaz Hector Babenco.
